How far is the beach from the house?
Our houses are approximately 120 ft from the beach. They sit on a slight hill up from the water. Tropicasa sits the furthest back, though there is still a nice view of the water.
Can you swim and snorkel easily from the beach? Is it safe for children?
Yes, our beach slopes gently into the water and is no more than 5 ft deep. You can easily swim and snorkel from the beach.
Are linens and paper products provided?
We provide bed linens, bath towels, beach towels, toliet paper and hotel-size bath soap. Other paper products must be purchased. There are usually some basic cleaning supplies and dish soap left over from rental to rental.
How far is the Atlantic oceanside by boat?
We are located on the gulfside. In most small boats, you can get to the Atlantic side in approximately 20-30 mins through Adam’s Cut (north of us). We are located in Sunset Cove in Buttonwood Sound.
Can we fish?
Yes, we have a fishing pier, but you will need to rent or bring fishing rods.
Is there trailer parking and a boat launch?
Yes, we have parking for your trailer and you can launch your boat from our beach or at a nearby boat launch.
What time is checkin/checkout?
Checkin is at 3 pm and checkout is at 10 am. To request an earlier checkin or checkout time, please call the office. If there are no bookings on either side of yours, we will try to accommodate you.
Are pets allowed? Can they swim at the beach?
We are a pet-friendly resort. There is no pet fee, and we allow pets to swim unleashed at the beach when supervised. Otherwise, we request that you leash your pet for their safety and that of others.
Do we need to rent a car?
Key Largo is a long, spread-out island, so it is recommended that you rent a car.
Do you rent boats?
No, but there are several local places that do (see “things to do” for a list of boat rental companies). We have kayaks and a paddleboat for you to use.
Is there a grill?
Each cottage has a charcoal grill, and there are also some on the beach. Tropicasa has a gas grill
Are there grocery stores nearby?
Yes, Publix supermarket is approximately 2 miles north and Winn Dixie is approximately 4 miles north of our location.
Can we have a party or a wedding?
We have limited parking, so we can only accommodate small gatherings. Please clear any party or gathering with the office.
How close are the cottages to the highway?
They are not very close. We have a small private road off the main US 1 highway, so there isn’t much highway noise.
What is the cancellation policy?
Your reservation deposit is fully refundable up to 60 days prior and 50% refundable up to 30 days prior. If cancellation occurs within 30 days, we will allow you to reschedule.
What about hurricanes?
Hurricane season runs from from June – Nov, though most hurricanes occur during Aug, Sept, and early Oct. Just because a hurricane is in the Atlantic doesn’t mean it will threaten the Keys or your vacation. Tracking of hurricanes has gotten very precise, and we will be given watches and warnings well in advance if a hurricane is a threat to us. In the event of a hurricane warning, a visitors evacuation is mandatory. If you have not yet arrived, we will refund your deposit or allow you to reschedule. If you are here when the evacuation order is issued, we will refund any remaining part of your stay or reschedule, as you wish.
